The Oberbergischer Kreis district police authority is divided into:

• the management staff
• the Hazard Prevention/Employment Directorate (GE)
• the Crime Directorate (K)
• the Traffic Directorate (V)
• the Central Tasks Directorate (ZA)

It is divided into three patrol areas (Gummersbach, Waldbröl, Wipperfürth) and, in addition to three central police stations (KK1, KK2 and KK3), has three regional police stations in Gummersbach, Waldbröl and Wipperfürth).

The Traffic Directorate includes the traffic commissioner's office (Gummersbach and an outsourced office in Wipperfürth), the accident investigation team, the traffic service, the motorcycle squadron and traffic prevention.
