Last night, the police received reports of loud vehicle noises in Waldbröl-Hermesdorf. In the area of a petrol station in Friedrich-Engels-Straße, cars were drifting around and revving their engines.
Shortly before arriving at the scene, a patrol car crew became aware of a black BMW 2 Series. The driver was driving very fast on Breslauerstrasse in the direction of Brückenweg. He did not react to signals to stop. Instead, he continued to accelerate his vehicle. He drove at excessive speed through the villages of Geiningen, Hülstert, Überasbach, Dreslingen and Denklingen and then onto the main road in the direction of Hermesdorf. There he accelerated to around 130 km/h - 140 km/h and also switched off his lights. A pursuit was no longer possible at this point. A short time later, the police discovered the vehicle they were looking for hidden in the Eisenbahnstraße in Hermesdorf. The BMW had been parked between the railroad tracks and a semitrailer truck in the area of the train station there. Witnesses had seen two people get out of the car. One of them said: "You won't get me anyway, nor my driver's license."
Shortly afterwards, the two met the police on foot in the main street in Hermesdorf. Both had a bottle of beer in their hands. They were a 24-year-old from Waldbröl and a 25-year-old from Morsbach. The man from Waldbröl had the vehicle key to the BMW in his trouser pocket, while the man from Morsbach had narcotics and a knuckleduster with him.
The police seized both the vehicle and the other items found. The two suspects were taken to the police station, where they had to give a blood sample and the man from Waldbröl also had to surrender his driver's license. In the patrol car, the Waldbröler clearly expressed his displeasure. He insulted the police officers and spat into the car several times.
Now they are both facing extensive criminal proceedings.
